Celebrate the launch of NZ Theatre Month and IHI Fest with a play reading of Te Puhi, an award-winning play from Rotorua playwright Cian Elyse White.

It's 1962 and Te Puhi Johnson has just been crowned Miss New Zealand, the first Māori wahine to receive the prestigious title. The reluctant beauty queen only entered the pageant after being convinced by her sister, to help raise money for her whānau’s kapa haka group.

Play On is a live script reading series of New Zealand plays. It's unrehearsed, unpredictable and unmissable.

Te Puhi features Huia Clayton, Kimo Houltham, Atutahi Potaka-Dewes, Simone Walker and Cian Elyse White.
