The Playwrights' Inspiration

  • Conceived by the Devonport Theatre Month Group
  • 12.30pm Tue 4 Sep
  • Devonport Library
  • Devonport
  • Take a Ferry
  • Duration: Approx 1 hr

What happens when you bring together three well-known playwrights to discuss the creative process each goes through?

Tom Scott (The Caffeine Wars), Geoff Chapple (The Lost Poet) and Margot McRae (Blood or Water) sit down to discuss their respective approaches and may even provide some hints about their plays that will be shown at the adjacent Victoria Theatre as a part of NZ Theatre Month.

Come armed with your own burning questions : Are there similarities or do they disagree vehemently with each?  Do they discuss each others’ work and make suggestions ? Do writers really work in a dark attic with no distractions ?

And most importantly, how important IS good coffee ?

Come and find out as Tom, Geoff and Margot three delve into their takes on the creative process, as well as the challenges and successes each has discovered through creating theatre for New Zealand audiences.

This event will be held upstairs in the Devonport Library and is completely free.
