Gang Shows are a theatre tradition having been in existence since Ralph Reader initiated the concept in 1931 and exported it all over the world. A Gang Show is a theatrical production produced and performed by members of the Scout and Girl Guiding Movements with the aim of empowering young people to make a positive contribution to society.
The Hutt Valley Gang Show is performed every two years at the Little Theatre, Lower Hutt, Wellington.
While it is performed in Lower Hutt and called the 'Hutt Valley' Gang Show, this is a production put on collaboratively by the Rimutaka, Lower Hutt, Wellington and Kapiti Coastal Zones of Scouts New Zealand. Members of Scouts NZ and Girl Guiding NZ from throughout the greater Wellington region are eligible to be part of the Show.
